Week 3 EOC

This vintage advertisement portrays women just right in this time era. Women may have gone to college but never anticipate to work. The women stayed home and did all the cleaning, cooking, and all other household duties. So in this Hoover advertisement it shows a women receiving a brand new Hoover vacuum under the tree for Christmas.  What else could a housewife ask for in the 1960’s right. As you can see our time now has changed. In this time this advertisement is very much positive. This is how a women is suppose to act and look.  She is not selling sex like in today’s modern advertising.


Dove has more positive advertisements with women. Their advertisements are not trying to sell you sex appeal. Most modern advertisements involve sex and or sex appeal to sell their products. In Dove’s advertisement right here I think it portrays women perfectly. These are real actual women showing their flaws. Real women have flaws and this is what Dove shows in this advertisement. These women are beautiful and not fake. These women are not showing their breasts and only half clothed.  More advertisements should be like Dove with women comfortable in their own skin.
